Program Council (meets 1st Thursday of each month)

The Program Council oversees the mission and activity of the congregation.  It proposes and implements programs and ministries that benefit the church community, exclusive of those areas under the direct control of the Administrative Board.  This structure is designed to be less formal than the Administrative Board.  It has 13 members are elected by the congregation and some invited guests.  The bolded Program Council positions correspond to the areas into which Ministry Opportunities are grouped. 

Elders

The Elders are called to reason together to find God’s purpose for First Christian Church.  They encourage the congregation’s growth as a caring Spiritual Center, share the salvation in Jesus Christ with others, and preside at the Communion Table.  They are elected by the congregation for a 3 year term, and have a representative to the Administrative Board.

Diaconate

The Diaconate are called to a role of service.  They have responsibility to see that the sanctuary is prepared and cleaned up every Sunday.  They pass the collection plate and distribute communion at Sunday services.  They are elected by the congregation to a 3 year term, and have a representative to the Administrative Board.

The CYF Diaconate performs the same duties as the above Diaconate, but serve 1 year terms, and a maximum of 2 years.

Trustees

The Trustees are charged with the maintenance and upkeep of our church building.  They are elected to a 3 year term, have a representative to the Administrative Board, and are also included in the Program Council because numerous Ministry Opportunities exist for building upkeep

Endowment

The Endowment members are charged with managing the funds in our various memorial accounts.  They are responsible for investing Building Fund monies, and seeing that expenses relating to the construction of our new church are paid in a timely fashion.  They are elected by the congregation to a 3 year term and have a representative to the Administrative Board.
